A short drive down the mountain and you will find a plethora of opportunities to eat, drink and enjoy the beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Route 151 is the main road through Rockfish Valley and the perfect place to explore many wineries, breweries, hard cider and distilled spirits.
Here is a list of just some of the places nearby:
- Blue Toad Hard Cider - Not quite on Rte 151, this cidery is the first place you will see coming down the mountain from our house.
- Devil's Backbone - This place is one of our favorites. There is something for everyone and Saturday night brisket is NOT to be missed!
- Bold Rock Cidery - Their cider is the best! That is why we offer every guest a bottle when they arrive at the Fairway Chalet. Just a short drive, this place is family friendly and just plain fun! You can watch them bottle their cider, play games by the fire or sit out on the deck and enjoy the fire pit.
- Hazy Mountain - They offer self guided tastings at your table. It is a little on the pricey side $20 per flight, but it comes with some videos on Youtube from the vintner to explain his wines. They also offer spectacular views from their Tuscan inspired property. Don't miss the ice cream sandwiches, too!
- Brewing Tree Brewery - This is the most family friendly spot in our opinion. From the scratch kitchen food truck to the meadow out back with the river view, this brewery has something for everyone.
- Blue Mountain Brewery - This is a little farther up Route 151, but their extensive menu and tastings make it worth the drive.
- Veritas Winery - A family run business, this winery is expansive. They offer walk-in tastings for $15 or a $50 guided tasting for those wanting a private experience. There are many places to reserve if you want a more secluded space for you and your guests, from a fireside spot to a fire pit, there are many options to tailor the experience to your taste!
- Silverback Distillery - If you would like to taste local spirits this place is the closest. I find purchasing their offerings a bit on the expensive side and the tasting room a bit small.
